Do You Need Makeup For A Branding Photoshoot?

I get asked a million times, “Why do I need make up for a headshot or branding shoot? I’m ok with my face.”

It’s a bit of a tightrope of a subject because you don’t want to offend anyone. The reality is that even if you don’t normally wear make up in your day-to-day, you should have at least a light application for a professional photoshoot.

It’s not because you are not attractive or anything like that, it’s because makeup does add some magic to your skin. Not only does it hide any blemishes, but it also smoothens skin.

I have also noticed that when ladies look in the mirror right after their makeup is applied, they just appear more confident and happy with their new look. This confidence will show in their photos.

So trust your photographer when he suggests getting makeup done for your photoshoot that could be potentially seen over time by thousands of potential clients on your website and social media.

Believe me, if Beyonce ever got in front of my camera, I'd offer her makeup too. Lol.

Watch this video from a Headshot Day I put on for members of a book writing club called the The WriteNow Club hosted by Jackie Brown Books.

The shoot had the authors get makeup, and in some cases, hair done onsite just before they got their headshots taken.

The studio we used was at the Beauty Institute of Canada in Pickering.

The amazing makeup artistry was done by Karen and her team at Lubu Makeup.
