Run-a-way

Las Vegas. The bright lights, the designer clothes, the runway.

I’ve not had the opportunity of shooting a runway fashion show before but the Photosapien finally got his chance.  Funny thing is that it happened purely by chance.

In Las Vegas on the world famous Vegas Strip, there sits a mall called the Fashion Mall that is the home of weekly fashion shows, sponsored by Macy’s.  The Mrs and I  toured the mall, carefully avoiding Louis Vuitton, Saks Fifth Avenue & Lululemon just biding our time until showtime. Admittedly, I couldn’t keep my Wife out of Victoria’s Secret though.

I am not fond of shopping at malls so it was easy to avoid stores, but my mind was on photo taking.  The Fashion Mall has runway shows on Friday’s all throughout the day and I found myself in a prime spot to get the best shots.  I’ve obviously learned about positioning myself for the best runway photos from watching America’s Next Top Model.  A far cry from doing wedding photography.

As it turned out, I was the only person there with a professional digital SLR camera at the end of the runway. Each and every model stopped, posed, twirled and smiled for me.  Perfect.  Unfortunately, no one at the mall was helpful when I wanted to forward my information for the Models to get copies of their photos.  Well, here they are.  Hopefully, by chance, they hear about Toronto’s own Photosapien and his blog.
